HOW TO DRAW Superheroes and Anime |

|
I honestly have never been good at explaning the techniques that helped me to draw Anime and Superheroes, but I'll give it another shot for the people out there. The following techniques are ones that were of a great help to me to learn and progress with my drawing skills. 1: Study. I know it sounds strange, but study the ways different people and different artists have drawn within these styles. Studying these sorts of things will help you get a feel for what it can look like and help inspire you to create new things. 2: Use any resources available to you. This is more or less a tip, but it is true. If you need to look at something for muscle placement for example, by all means, USE SOMETHING! Use any resources you need to make your picture look how you want it to look. Pick up a book and look at the pictures inside. Put an action figure in front of you to see what affects the light has for example. Use any resources you have. 3: Look to friends. Your friends can be a great help in giving you ideas and letting you know what you could do to make your character look even better. 4: Don't limit yourself. Go out of the box, so to speak. Make your character look however you want them to look. If you want them to have tiny legs, long arms and a head the size of a watermelon, go for it! For example, with one of my characters, Naurex Daemonacht, I made his body solid black except for the parts that the light hit, gave him an energy sword and a very unusual suit of armor. But going out of the box doesn't just mean with your characters. If they are in a world of their own that has upside down pyramids for courthouses or something wierd like that, go for it! No limits! 5: Keep at it. Like I said before, don't give up just because you don't get it on the first try. Erase and redraw as you need to. Believe me, it'll be of great help. 6: Be original. Make what you want, however you want to. As I said before, go out of the box. If you can't think up something right away, try combining things for inspiration. 7: Plan ahead. This is actually a great help. Think ahead about your character and what they're going to look like, the type of world they'll be in, anything that'll help for when you're ready to draw them. If you need to, think up a story for them to explain why they look or are the way they are. Think ahead about anything about them. Their clothes, build, height, expression, posessions (as in decorations for their clothing, like skulls attached to chains for a villan or golden bracelets for a young woman or something), the type of world they live in, even how they move to get a feel for how to pose them if you plan to. Think about it ahead of time and work towards what you came up with. Now, I can't say these techniques work for everyone. Because of this, I say that if you have a technique that works for you, stick with it.
